Barrett's work sits at the intersection of capital markets, institutional finance, and emerging technology like AI and Digital Assets. During his career, Barrett has assisted on over 100 IPO and similar transactions.
Career Highlights
- 2025 Co-founded a stealth-stage fintech startup building at the intersection of AI and institutional digital asset management. Raised VC and Angel funding, MVP in process.
- 2020s Led Deloitte Capital Markets as Partner and US IPO Services Co-Leader; built the Silicon Valley Accounting and Reporting Advisory function from the ground up.
- 2014–2019 Founded Nextstep Advisory Services, an IPO and Accounting Advisory firm based in Silicon Valley, later sold to Deloitte Audit — Deloitte Audit's first acquisition since the 1980s.
- 2007–2013 Helped start and grow Connor Group, a Silicon Valley Accounting Advisory firm.
- 2000s Led the SuccessFactors IPO from the inside as Director of Finance. Also worked within the PwC Capital Markets Group, including a secondment to Sydney, Australia to assist with cross-border offerings.
